Something which brought me joy

Bote GS.jpeg

"It's the bottom of the ninth. The home team is down by three runs. Bases loaded. Two outs. Two strikes. The pitcher stares down the batter. The batter glares back. The pitcher sets...winds up...and puts everything he has behind the pitch." **Tosses the ball in the air and swings** "A crack rings through the stadium. The ball flies. It has the distance! It has the carry. It's going...going...GONE! GRAND SLAM!!!"

This is every small boy's dream as he tosses the ball around the yard. Early this week I saw it happen in real life. Not only was it a fantastic end to a fantastic game - by a Triple-A player that was called up to fill in for a star player - but it took me back to my childhood. Plus it made for a really cool picture, above.

Podcast I have been enjoying

I typically enjoy long-form podcasts (listened to at 2x speed - yes you can build up to this speed and still understand what is being said - so as to get through more), but the weekly podcast, Everything Is Alive has been a fun change to my typical listens. Each podcast is an interview with an inanimate object (a can of soda, lamp post, and pillow so far). Stupid sounding, I know. But these short episodes are funny! This would be a great activity to try for creative writing!

Application which has been helping me stay organized

Years ago I read - and loved - David Allen's, Getting Things Done. It is a straightforward system which has helped me get everything out of my head and organized. Since then I have attempted to implement it using digital and analog tools but haven't found one I really loved...until this past week. Todoist is a simple, yet powerful, application which has helped me to stay organized. I will still need to use it longer to see if it sticks, but so far it is the best to-do tool I have found. Oh, and I finally got my work and personal emails back down to ZERO!
