Becoming Wealthy
/"There are two ways to be wealthy—to get everything you want or to want everything you have." - Ryan Holiday
From the time I was a young man until now, I have always chased "wealth". Whether in the form of money, power, or success, I have always strived to be the best. And more times than not I have succeeded.
However, every time I have succeeded I quickly ask, "now what?" For every promotion I have obtained it is quickly followed by me thinking, "what's the next step up?" Things are never enough. They are never satisfying. I always want the next best thing. I am addicted to the process.
I have become more wealthy than I deserve. I have a beautiful wife and five wonderful children. I have a job which provides an income that keeps my family comfortable. I am able to pursue my goals and dreams. I am a wealthy man who does not realize his wealth because he is blinded by chasing what comes next.
This is not to say that I should not try my best in all I do, but what good is it to try my best if I am not grateful for what I have in front of me already? I will never become wealthy by obtaining everything I want because I will always want something more. How much more rewarding to want everything I have and find enjoyment in whatever I'm pursuing?
This is easier said than done, but right here and now I know I am the wealthiest man alive.
