Website I have been using

medium-logo.jpg

Medium is a great site for readers and writers alike. Medium allows writers to publish their content to its large community of readers in a clean environment. Readers can consume this content in the same clean environment. Best part? It is ad free! This means the content is more meaningful and less "clickbaity". Premium members can publish content, and if other premium members applause their post (Medium's version of a "like"), the author is compensated a certain amount from that member's subscription (I'm still trying to figure this part out).

For an example of how the content looks, you can view my first post here. I will be posting my future short stories on the platform as well. Feel free to follow me here!

Documentary that has been eye opening

Ken Burns and Lynn Novick's, "The Vietnam War". This first aired on PBS last year before making its way to Netflix last month. This fantastic documentary has lessons which still apply today. What sets this war documentary apart from others is its interviews with both American servicemen as well as the Vietcong. I highly recommend journeying through this series.

Podcast I have been enjoying

Slate's "Slow Burn" is now into its second season. The first season covered the Watergate scandal, while season two covers the events leading up to the impeachment of Bill Clinton. I vaguely remember the Clinton scandals during my time in high school, but listening to this podcast has been eye-opening as to how much I didn't know.

Book I have been learning from

How to Read a Book.jpg

"How to Read a Book" has been around for decades, and I'm finding is a must read for those wanting to get the most out of their reading experience. I know, I know. Many of you are saying, "Open book. Read page one. Turn page. Read next page. Continue until you reach the end of the book." But this books digs into the different types of reading, how to properly take notes and make highlights, and other tools to gain lasting knowledge from the books you read. I will write a full review once I am finished, but for now I recommend checking out this book.
